The Hunters Lodge “Arnika”

Croatia is known for its natural resources, cultural heritage but also for its diverse gastronomy. While tourists are more or less familiar with the cuisine that dominates the coastal part of the country, the cuisine of mountainous Croatia is less known to both domestic and foreign tourists.

If the trip ever leads you to Fužine, a small town in Gorski kotar, you have to go to a restaurant within the “Arnika” hunting lodge. The Hunters Lodge “Arnika” is located outside the centre of Fužine (approx. 800 m), which makes the location attractive for peace and quiet. Arnika includes apartments, an outdoor terrace and a restaurant.

The cosy and simple interior with a total of 50 seats is the right place to try delicious regional cuisine. The restaurant is a true gourmet paradise because of its rich gastronomic offer, and some of the dishes on the menu that are highly recommended: game stew with polenta, homemade cow cheese, baked potatoes and sauerkraut, homemade sausages with cabbage, baked boar, roasted dormouse, frog legs… The menu also offers a rich selection of fish dishes caught in nearby lakes as well as mushrooms hunted in nearby forests. You can also taste delicious local juices, liqueurs and wines made from forest fruits. One of the dishes that is definitely recommended and which is one of the trademarks of "Arnika" is certainly the forest fruit strudel.
