The Note Coffee

Experiencing Vietnamese Coffee at it’s Finest

A friend of mine lived in Hanoi some time ago for a few months, and the first thing she said when I told her I’d come visit you, was “oh my gosh, I cannot wait to take you to my favourite coffee shop for a coconut iced latte”.

A tourist attraction created by the simple idea to put post it notes all over the petite cafe in the heart of the city. Creating memories in simple words or phrases hand written by people from all over the world, far and near, who once sat in the exact spot we were in that moment. Everyone there can leave their mark. Quite special if you think about it!

Getting to The Note Coffee :

From the old quarter, it’s about a 20 minute walk towards the river, and it’s right opposite Quang Truong Dong on Luong Van Can Road. It’s a small entrance and not too obvious to find from the outside, it simply looks like a normal little coffee shop which Hanoi is scattered with. However when you walk inside you’ll be hit with the wow factor.

Colourful sticky notes covered the walls, tables, chairs, and everything in between, creating a scene that makes you feel like you’re in Alice in Wonderland, or something of the sort. The Note Coffee is not only known for it’s unique and unplanned decor, it also serves some of the best coffee in Hanoi. I strongly recommend the Coconut Iced Latte, mmm mmmmmm.

At 3 or 4 levels, each story has it’s own quirk, depending on the atmosphere you’d like to enjoy your coffee in. The first story is more for people to wait whilst getting coffee to go, whereas the higher levels are more for those wanting to experience the small little spaces and nooks and crannies where post it notes fill ones entire vision.

The higher levels have stunning views of the river, and the hustle and bustle of the circle below. You can sit and people watch from above whilst sipping on something delicious from their wide variety of coffee and snacks to chose from. You’ll most likely want to choose something cold because damn, Vietnam is a different kind of hot!

Other Vietnamese coffees you have to try whilst in this beautiful country that holds so much to see, include egg coffee (Strong black coffee with sweet, soft meringue on top), Vietnamese Iced coffee, something you’ll definitely need for energy in the heat, and Vietnamese drip coffee.
