Science-Themed Afternoon Tea

At the Ampersand Hotel

Looking for an exciting afternoon tea in London with a unique theme? The Ampersand Hotel’s restaurant, The Drawing Rooms, is sure to satisfy children and children-at-heart with their interactive science-themed afternoon tea! My parents and I opted for the afternoon tea with “tea-tails,” so we got a tea-infused cocktail with every course of the tea! You can also of course opt for a nonalcoholic tea, and there are vegetarian and vegan options available! They also served a children’s tea served on its own rocket-ship tray!

After sitting down in this beautifully decorated tearoom, your tea begins with a DIY lemonade. You’ll mix lemonade ingredients and baking soda to create your own fizzy beverage! The tea itself comes with a variety of finger sandwiches, including classics like smoked salmon and chicken salad. For the next course, they serve a savory and a sweet scone. The savory scone is a gruyere-topped, herby biscuit served with black truffle butter, and the sweet scone is served with lemon curd and jam.

For dessert, you can enjoy a variety of science-themed pastries, including one shaped like Saturn! I thought all the treats were delicious,s and I would highly recommend this tea. This is the perfect way to end an afternoon at the nearby Natural History Museum in Kensington! Be sure to book ahead of time as this tea is super popular!
