Amanjena

A luxury hideout in Marrakech

Marrakech is quickly becoming one of the hottest tourist destinations, and for good reason. The Red City has a deep and interesting cultural history, beautiful climate, and some of the most fabulous resorts in the world. Amanjena is one of my favorites here - just five minutes away from the Medina and action of the city, yet it feels like a world away. The accommodations and service at Amanjena are truly exceptional. The staff frequently go above and beyond the normal expectation, and are so well trained to anticipate your needs that you might think that they’re using Jedi tricks to deliver service before its even asked! The resort also has an olive grove on the premises and cold presses its own olive oil, a fantastic treat often given to guests as a parting gift.

The living accommodations at Amanjena are truly stunning and unique. The villas are built to reflect traditional Moroccan architecture, yet offer all the modern amenities you'd expect from a five star resort. Personally, I would definitely recommend getting a villa with a pool. For families, there are two and three bedroom “maisons”, which are are two story private residences with amenities like heated pools, gardens, and fireplaces. You may feel as if you'll never need to leave your Maison - perhaps the intention behind the design. Amanjena is a favorite among celebrities as well; we had the pleasure of staying in the same Maison as the Beckham family, who stay in the same Maison every time they visit. It was quite the memorable experience for us!

Marrakech is renowned worldwide for its rich and varied cuisine, and the eateries at Amanjena are no exception. With dishes ranging from traditional Moroccan to Italian and Japanese, the dining experience is second to none. The atmosphere in the Moroccan restaurant is amazing, and you can even dine in the olive grove for a truly memorable experience - it feels like you are living in a luxury travel commercial for Marrakech. Like all Aman locations, the chefs are more than happy to create dishes for you beyond what's offered on the menu (one of Aman’s tagline is “No request is too great and no detail too small”). The head chef at Amanjena is Italian, and upon learning that we love homemade gnocchi, he prepared a batch for us daily - just in case we showed up at the restaurant and were in the mood for it. Of course, we were in the mood for it every day and it was absolutely fantastic!
