The Hidden Cliffs of Roche-Cádiz

Conil, Cádiz

Views from above the cliffs

The Roche Coves are between the port of Conil and the Roche urbanization, where a series of small rocky coves hide under the reddish cliffs. In some, access is difficult, but it is worth enjoying one of the most beautiful sunsets in the area. Away from the overcrowded cities, these cliffs hide four big coves in which you can just relax or swim in the warm sea.

Each cove is different and you can easily walk from one to another in no more than five minutes. In my opinion, the best cove is the first one, but you should definitely check them all out and decide for yourself :)

The red rock of the cliffs is made out of the sediment, mainly from the decomposition of many minerals (with a lot of iron) and marine fossils. You can see a lot of different shells embedded: some with crazy globular shapes, others of a beautiful Vieira style.

The best way to reach the cliffs is by car seeing as there isn’t a bus service close by. This is a remote place so you won’t find any service stations so plan in advance!

When the sun starts going down you can walk through the path above the cliffs until you reach the lighthouse. It's a really nice place to view the last of the sunbeams before going back home.
