Onich, Scotland

july, 2019

this year i travelled up to Onich, Scotland; which is near a place called Fort William.

Scotland is highly recommended from me, known as the ‘land of mountain wilderness’ and is ’interspersed with valleys and lochs’.

Scotland has been voted as the ‘most beautiful country in the world’ and it truly is. I last went to Scotland when travelling to Glasgow, but I want to go back and venture to the Northwest Highlands to climb the mountains and see the sights because it truly is a stunning country.

I personally prefer countryside than city, which is why i travelled up to Onich which is better for sight seeing. I stayed on a holiday sight right on the sea shore next to mountains in the distant and amazing rivers.

During my time up there I ventured into the rivers and explored some rapids which i did fall into... haha!

Not only is Scotland visually stunning, the scenery is so peaceful and quiet you can hear your own heartbeat.

Scotland weather is known to typically rain, however the time i spent there the weather varied from sun to rain; just check the weather forecast before you go! (although personally i love the rain and can make places look prettier)

I am a sucker for adventure, and living dangerously! Which is why i decided to climb up a mountain/cliff...

The weather was perfect and i had time on my hands and i was looking at this small cliff and i was thinking ‘imagine the view off the top of that’ so i had to go and see. It was not even a question, i was doing it! So i took off and started to climb, and the view was worth it.

When taking the photos from the top i was saying to myself ‘if only a camera can show exactly what your eyes are seeing’ because sometimes cameras cannot capture what your eyes can see, because you're there!

half way there... half way there...

At this point i was on my hands and knees climbing this cliff..and it started to open up into a forest. I couldn't believe how fab it was.

had to take a quick selfie... had to take a quick selfie...

I managed to capture a photo with a flock of birds flying across the cliff...

I’m nearly at the top now and it was getting warmer as I got higher, the forest started to clear and i climbed up the stream that followed the cliff down to the sea, thought that would come in handy when coming down because everything looked so similar thought i would get lost!

at the top! at the top!

i couldn't believe that i had made it, this was at the highest point of this particular cliff and i cannot tell you how amazing the feeling was...It was a “as if i have just climbed this cliff by myself” type moment and it was just great. I sat at the top for a while and just took it all in, i walked across the top and came to a small white house right on the edge..Imagine waking up to that everyday, just sea and mountains. So lucky.

After a while of taking photos and just being by myself in the piece and quiet, i began my way back down... At first i couldn't find my way back and i thought i was going to have to set up camp with the cows but i eventually found that stream i mentioned earlier and followed that down.

I eventually made it back to where i started just in-time for the sunset.
