Where to Have Coffee in San Francisco

Helping You Find Your Next Caffeine Fix in SFO

There are more than enough coffee shops in San Francisco to keep you busy, no matter how long you plan on visiting. These are just a few of our favourites in the Bay Area and what we like to drink in each!

1. Sightglass Coffee | 270 7th St

Occupying a huge space on 270 7th Street, this Sightglass Coffee location has all the rustic feels. The grey concrete floors, brown woody aesthetic, and smell of great coffee welcomes you in as soon as you walk through the door. As you make your way to the brewing station you walk past the inhouse roastery and coffee packing station, both very busy. Friendly baristas, happy to talk through the different coffees on offer, made us feel at home and excited for our drinks. Depending on what you order, it can take a little while to be ready, and if it's busy you'll have difficulty getting a seat inside. Other than that though, it was a all around great shop that served up some pretty amazing coffee.

Ethiopia - Benti Nenka, Hambela

Tasting Notes: Candied Lime, Raspberry, Tea Rose

2. Blue Bottle | 2453 Fillmore St

You've probably heard of Blue Bottle before. It's one of the fastest growing coffee shops in the world and rightly so. You'll find the same beautiful, minimal space and great coffee in any Blue Bottle you visit. The interior is bright, white, and open. The only downside is everyone else has also heard about how good Blue Bottle is and it can be busy pretty much anytime of day. If you manage to get a seat, you'll be able to comfortably enjoy this famous coffee shop and one of the many delicious drinks they offer, coffee or otherwise!

What we had | Cascara Fizz

Cascara steeped in hot water, sugar, sparkling water, and a touch of lemon.

I know, it's not coffee! But when you take your first sip of this unique drink, you'll know why we chose it. In the midday californian heat, it was a very refreshing, delicious glass of sweetness. Cascara are the remnants of the coffee cherry. Taken from the Spanish word càscara, meaning “shell” or “husk.” Try it and thank us later!

3.Wrecking Ball Coffee | 2271 Union St

Located in a small space on 2271 Union St, Wrecking Ball Coffee is home to a great selection of freshly roasted and brewed espresso drinks and hand-crafted pourovers. They have a bright and airy space, despite the small size, with a custom-built brew bar squeezed in. There isn't much seating and no wifi, but it's a great place to grab a takeaway of your whatever your favourite drink is.

Bonus Round | Where to have coffee in Larkspur

We actually stayed just outside of San Francisco in the historic town of Larkspur. Surrounded by beautiful redwoods, it was a welcome escape from busy days exploring the streets of San Francisco. We managed to find a great coffee shop that helped get us fuelled up for days in the city, which thought isn't technically in San Francisco, it's close enough to make it in as a bonus round!
