A Guide to Dubrovnik

Day by day in Dubrovnik

Dubrovnik, Croatia’s ancient fairytale beach getaway, is definitely one for the bucket list. Over the years of it becoming more and more touristy, we did notice however, that the cost of visiting this unbelievably gorgeous city is not very well suited for travellers on a tight budget. We’ll show you what we did and how we had the best few days without breaking the bank.

We decided to visit Dubrovnik during the off season. We went in mid October, as it was the cheapest time to go, and were surprised by how perfect the weather was. We were blessed with around 26 degrees and sunshine every day, ideal for walking around without sweating, and warm enough to swim in the crystal clear water without getting sunburnt. The plane tickets were around £25pp each way (from London) and accommodation in a beautiful guest house set us back around £16 each per night. The best part about the time of year we went, is that everything was nice and quiet, we basically got the whole two-story guest house to ourselves and we were able to find our own private rocky beaches and swimming spots that would usually be overcrowded in summer (June-August). Everything is still open as it isn’t Winter just yet, but the prices of the tours are lower and you don’t have to book in advance.
