Absolute Euphoria at Kawasan Falls

The Paradise Day Trip 40 mins Away from Moalboal

Kawasan Falls in Cebu, Philippines, has some of the bluest water I have ever seen. With layers of crystal clear cascades you can walk up to, it was by far one of my favourite parts of this incredible Island. For only 40 pesos ( less than $2) you can spend the day here relaxing.

How to get there :

Most accommodations in Cebu offer day trips to Kawasan Falls, including "Canyoning" or "Canyoneering" ie : jumping off cliffs in the surrounding waterfalls you might not be able to find on your own. These day trips are mountains of fun and you get to meet so many people, experiencing a different side to these stunning landscapes, however if you are on a budget they might not be for you. The day trips can cost anything up to 2500 pesos for the day (around $70 AUD). If this is enough to break your bank, and for us it was, there are ways you can get there on your own and experience it in a more peaceful, laid back manner.

Sliding down the rocks into the naturally blue pools! Sliding down the rocks into the naturally blue pools!

We hired a scooter for the morning from Moalboal for around 300 pesos ($8 AUD), considering this was only the price for a half day. (Tip : when hiring a scooter for the day ask for half day which is 12 hours instead of 24, if you only need it for the day then 12 hours will be more than enough!)

It took us around 45 mins to get there by scooter from Moalboal, Panagsama Beach, and the roads were stunning and really easy to drive on. Its a very straight forward route too, if you don't have offline maps you would easily be able to stop and ask for directions and find it pretty easily. If you're not comfortable hiring a scooter you could get a tuk tuk for slightly more expensive but still a hell of a lot cheaper than a day trip.

Once you arrive you'll have to park your scooter outside the gates and walk around 1km, about 15 minutes through gorgeous rainforest terrain with crystal clear lakes around you and little food stalls, souvenier shops and cafes along the way. I highly recommend the fried bananas, they're delish!

The falls have different levels that you can stop at and have a dip in each one. Spend a couple hours exploring all the different stunning areas to swim in the refreshing blue water. Little foot cleaning fish can be found closer to the top where you can enjoy a free foot spa with the best view in the house!
