The magnificent beach at DyrHolaey
DYRHOLAEY Drive towards the famous Icelandic city of Vik and put Dyrholaey into your GPS. Dyrholaey is where you can see the famous black sand beach from a much higher perspective. The black sand beach stretches all the way into the horizon. The drive is quite easy although it is up a hill. Once you get there, there are places you can and cannot pass as it is located on top of a massive hill be careful of where you go to as it is all on your own risk. The Views are absolutely breathtaking. I would recommend going around 3pm in the summer time when the tide is high so that you can see the waves crashing into the shore line and the beautiful white line of water foam as it reaches the shore. This was one of the most beautiful stops that we did in Iceland. There is also no restrictions to camping so have lunch in your camper with a incredible view or even better stay the night and enjoy the place all to yourself in the early hours of the morning.
