Chaka Kan Restaurant Gastro Bar Exotique

Multicultural restaurant in the heart of Raval

Kan, upstairs

Chaka Kan is located in the heart of the Raval neighborhood, one of the oldest in the city of Barcelona. It is just at the corner, in front of La Rambla del Raval, at 104 Hospital Street.

There are two floors. Chaka, the daytime portion, is a really wide place with lots of natural light and a large bar. In there, you can have lunch and breakfast during the day or meet a friend for a cocktail in the afternoon. Kan, on the upper floor, is the nighttime portion and more of a party vibe. You can chill out and enjoy a DJ or band play a few nights a week, and have cocktails and eat at the kitchen bar as you watch the cooks prepare your meal.

The menu is exotic with a mixture of food from Asia, South America, the Middle East, and Africa.

I tried three of their dishes. Chickpea hummus with a nice kick of cumin. The hummus was dyed with beet which I found to be interesting. Next, we had poke, served in a big and beautiful black bowl. And to finish off, Pancakes with Nutella and exotic fruits.

Long story short, if you ever come to Barcelona, don’t miss Chaka Can a cosmopolitan choice in a cosmopolitan city.
