Visit of a Pepper Farm in Kampot

We stayed in Kampot, Cambodia, for four days. It is a city you will love.

It's small and quiet and especially in May when it's low season. It might be a bit rainy but only once a day for a short time.

Our guesthouse was just in front of the river Praek Teuk Chhu. One day we decided to go to the countryside and visit a pepper farm called The Plantation. A French family owns it.

The tour will cost you around $20, entrance and the Tuk-Tuk ride included for half a day.

The climate of Kampot Province offers perfect conditions for growing pepper.

First, when you arrive, you are welcome by an amiable French man, and you are seated. You will have to wait for a few minutes for other tourists to come, so you can order a drink to cool yourself down.

The weather is so warm and humid around there. Once enough tourist arrives, the guided tour starts. You will be able to walk around all the plantation, touch it, smell it.

Everything is thoroughly explained, and you can ask any questions also, you will also be able to test and try all the pepper, my favorite one was the black and salt pepper.

And of course, you have to try the pepper ice cream. :) Weird right, but come on when you are away from the comfort of your home you have to try new things.

At the end of the tour, there is a fantastic Cambodian restaurant on the site. The dishes are all cooked with the pepper, of course.

A bit more expensive than the food from the city but it is worth it.
