Sfoglia Rina a Pasta Temple

Handmade Tortellini

The Entrance The Entrance

Have you ever heard of Tortellini or Bolognese sauce? Of course you have! Well did you know they are both from a unique city, Bologna?

Bologna is one of the largest cities in Italy, located in central Italy. It is possible to reach Florence, Milan, Venice or Rome very easily the speed trains. From the Roman Empire, Bologna was the link between the north and the south of Italy, and even during the medieval period, it obtained a great increase in trade through artificial rivers that connected the city with the Adriatic Sea. Bologna was home to the first university in the western world in 1088a.d. When you arrive in the city center, you will see the two large towers at the end of the main street (Via Rizzoli), the whole city center is full of restaurants and trattorias that mainly make typical Bolognese cuisine.  At Sfoglia Rina you can taste real handmade tortellini which is the best in the city!  Fifty years ago Sfoglia Rina was a small pasta shop created by Rina (of course...) but only 40 years later his grandson Lorenzo decided to rethink the traditional fresh pasta laboratory as a bakery with a restaurant. Today it's a flourishing company that tries to keep up with the changing times while not losing sight of tradition. You can dine in or Avoid the long queue outside Sfoglia Rina and go straight to the counter to order your tortelloni and take it home. The menu, handwritten on a blackboard, changes weekly and it’s divided between Emilia Romagna traditional dishes and more refined plates based on seasonal products. You can choose some of the most famous Bologna pasta like tortellini (with broth or with a mascarpone cheese cream), lasagne or tigelle with charcuterie, all perfectly made. The design of the store is very original with kitchen items used as furniture. 📷
